Set it up

  • Make six to eight gates around the area, each from two cones about 1.5 m apart.
  • Players work in pairs with one ball.

How it works

  1. Pairs move around the area and pass through a gate to their partner.
  2. Score a point for every pass through a gate that the partner controls.
  3. Pairs can’t use the same gate twice in a row.
  4. Play 60-second rounds with a short rest, then try to beat the score.

Coaching points

  • Pass with the inside of the foot and keep the ankle firm for accuracy.
  • Receiver: move to line up with the gate and show where you want the ball.
  • Take your first touch towards the next gate you want to use.
  • Talk or point so your partner knows where you’re going.
