Set it up

  • Use one goal with a goalkeeper and mark a 25 × 20 m area in front of it.
  • Attackers wait in pairs at the far end. Defenders queue beside the goal with the balls.

How it works

  1. A defender passes to the first attacking pair and comes out to defend.
  2. The attackers try to score against the defender and the goalkeeper.
  3. The attack ends with a goal, a save, the ball going out or the defender winning it.
  4. If the defender wins the ball, they score by dribbling over the far end line.
  5. Rotate so everyone attacks and defends.

Coaching points

  • Ball carrier: drive at the defender to make them commit before you pass.
  • Support player: stay wide and level with the ball, not in line behind the defender.
  • Pass when the defender commits to you; dribble if they stay with your teammate.
  • Shoot early and low, across the goalkeeper.
